Rightbanners - custom graphics for less than $40
If you need a graphic created, you can't beat this company. Traditionally to have a designer create a banner or graphic would start around $300 on the low end of the scale. For less than $40, Rightbanners will create an amazing banner at almost any size. We've been using them for almost 3 years and their service and quality is unmatched anywhere if you're looking for a cool banner. Create-A-Book has also been using them for most of their own banners (website and seasonal marketing banners).

* MailChimp - Email Marketing
Mailchimp is an email marketing service to help you send professional email newsletters and updates to your customers. Having an email marketing service also ensures you have a higher deliverability rate (less emails ending up in spam boxes). Their service is FREE if you have less than 2,000 subscribers or send less than 12K emails a month. Plus they have many templates you can choose from to send professionally designed emails. Mailchimp is also great because they integrate with so many other tools and platforms. www.Mailchimp.com

iStockPhoto - royalty free Images and Pictures starting at $1 each
Our favorite place to find great royalty free images, pictures, illustrations, and more you can add to your website, or include in a banner. Most pictures sell for $1.00 www.iStockphoto.com

Stop Remembering Passwords
We listed this first for a reason. You need it and you'll thank us for recommending it. It's hard to remember passwords and it gets harder every year as we create more accounts. Depending on whether you use a PC or a MAC, these two programs are in our "can't do without" category. If you use the internet, trust us - you need one of these programs. You login once when you turn on your computer, then whenever you login to a new website it asks if you want to save the login. From then on, if you open that webpage you can click a button and login. Or you can search from your list of saved websites and click one to open that website and login automatically. Each has many more features you can read about on their website, both also have ability to store identities and wallet info for orders, but nothing compares to not having to remember passwords. Both are really cheap.

1Password - The best option on MAC
Roboform - The best option on PC (and it's free until you've saved around 35 site logins)

Freshbooks - best invoice software
We've noticed some dealers will send invoices through paypal for telephone orders. If you're going to create and send invoices, don't do it with Paypal. Too clumsy and difficult for customers to use. Freshbooks will give you a free account for a small number of customers, and they're light years ahead of Paypal in features, ease of use, and attractiveness. The quality of your tools reflects the quality of your products in the customers eyes. Plus the additional features on Freshbooks are much better.

Adobe Flash - how to make sure you're on latest version
Our admin control panel to manage your website requires the latest version of Flash. This link will verify if you're using the latest version available is. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

TeamViewer - Remote access for trouble shooting
You probably won't need this unless we've directed you to this page. This allows you to give temporary access to your computer so we can view your screen and control your mouse. This is very handy if we need to show you how to do something, or if there's an issue that's happening on your computer only. We only do TeamViewer sessions with you on the phone, and each session requires you to give us a temporary code and password. When you close the session it kills all connections. www.TeamViewer.com

NEW E-Book Library Layout: If you sell the Create-A-Book personalized books, we have a category layout with larger product images, no prices or add to cart buttons showing, and the product images ink to the interactive book instead of the product page. We do have a link to each product page under the book cover, We created this layout because the interactive library was popular with customers. This gives customers ability to sample many stories without thinking about cost. The previous interactive library was not editable by site owners, so now you can choose which products to list in this category.

To use this layout, first create the category and add the desired products. Then click the "Layout/SEO" tab and choose "eBook Library" from the layout drop down menu. To make this new category visible, add it to a menu and you’re all set.

Video Tutorials - Payment Methods

Setting up your Payment Methods

The video above will show you how to setup your Payment Methods, but here's a quick summary of the options and important details.

1. Offline Payment Methods:

These can be used to create a payment method that do not require a credit card for the order to complete (i.e. will complete the checkout process and send order confirmations to customer and you). For example, the offline method can be used to create Bill Me Later – Upon Approval;  “Telephone Order" where they could arrange payment with you over the phone; or "COD."

2. Paypal: (3 simple steps)

You DO NOT need to create buttons or integrate any code for Paypal. We've already done all the shopping cart integrations, you just have to follow 3 easy steps.

1. Create Paypal account (don't have one, click HERE)
2. Add the email address you gave Paypal to your admin [Settings > Payment Settings > Paypal]
3. Update your Paypal IPN setting on Paypal (tutorial)

3. Propay Merchant Processing:

To add this service, complete the following 3 steps and email us your Propay account number so we can finish the integration with your store.

1. Learn more about Propay and create account (click here)
2. Email your propay account number to support@savisites.com
3. Purchase your SSL certificate (click here)

The SSL certificate is a security measure to encrypt and protect the web pages where your customers enter credit card information. This is a mandatory feature, so we cannot add Propay without it. You can order the SSL here

Video Tutorials - Shipping Methods

The shipping rules allow you to build price ranges based on an order’s weight, quantity of items, or total price "the monetary total. To create a shipping method, go to Settings -> Shipping Methods, and click the “Add New” button.

Tips:
  • You cannot mix rule types within a shipping method.
  • Contact your local shipping providers to determine your shipping prices.
  • For FREE shipping over "x" amount, make the last rule have a MAX of “999” and price of "0". For example: “Min $50 / Max 999 / Price $0” will give free shipping on orders over $50.
  • You can create a Shipping Method option for "Local Pickup" that has zero shipping cost. For this we recommend choosing a pickup location away from your home, and with friends along for the trip, but it can keep costs down for you and the customers ordering. This also comes in handy when doing a local event or program where multiple products are pickup from one location (example: School, or Hospital)

    Shipping Rules:
    • Order Total: This will calculate shipping based on the total dollar amount of the order.
    • Order Quantity: This will calculate shipping based on the total number of items in the order.
    • Order Weight: This will calculate shipping based on the total weight of all the products in the order. You must have a weight value entered for each product for this to work properly.
    • Per Item: This allows you to charge a fixed amount for each item in the order, and the amount can change based on the quantity. Example: you can charge $5 each item if total quantity is between 0-3 items, and then only $4 for each item if they order between 4-6 items, and so on...

Video Tutorials - How to add Custom Fields

Custom fields allow you to request additional information from customers when they add a specific product to their shopping cart. There are two places you can manage custom fields. The first is the Custom Fields tab while editing a specific product. The second is the stand alone Custom Fields section tucked into the drop down menu for Products in the main menu.

You have three choices when adding new custom fields:
    1) Create a new field
    2) Copy existing field(s)
    3) Copy field(s) from an entire product. (all fields from an existing product at once)

The Savi2 platform also introduces the Shared Field feature for custom fields. Whenever a custom field is used more than once your site will automatically recognize this field as “shared.” Any changes made to this field will update globally throughout your website, so you only have to make the changes one time.

If you want to edit a Shared field for a specific product, but have the field remain unchanged for the other products already using this field, you simple delete the shared field from that product and create a new field with the updated changes.

    Field Types
    • Single Line Text: The answer is a single line of text (character limit: )
    • Paragraph Text: If the answer requires several sentences (character limit: )
    • Time: Customers select the hours/minutes. You choose 12 or 24 hr format in store settings.
    • Drop Down: You provide your customers with predetermined multiple choices.
    • Date: This will create a calendar format to enter dates

Video Tutorials - How to Create/Manage your Storefront Menus

Savi2 allows you to build your Menus dynamically, and then place the menus in the preferred Storefront Box. You can add products, pages, categories, or custom URL’s to a menu. You can create unlimited menus, and then select Box Placement to assign it to an available storefront box.

When you build a menu, it's grabbing items you're telling it to populate with. If you move a menu out of a box, the menu is still saved in your store, just not visible to customers. If you remove a specific item from a menu, the item is still in your store, just removed from that menu.

What happens if you fill all storefront boxes and want to add more menus? If you assign menus to all storefront boxes, you can still create additional menus; however the box placement of the new menu will remain “Unassigned” until you switch a menu already assigned to a box, back to “Unassigned.” This will free up the storefront box for use with your new menu.
